CALM Training

The New Mexico Suicide Prevention Coalition and Waking Up Alive, Inc. are proud to announce our first CALM (Counseling on Access to Lethal Means) Train-the-Trainer will be held on March 12, 2014 from 8:30am-4:30pm in Albuquerque, Parents Reaching Out, 1920 Columbia SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106.  There will be 6 Social Work CEUs available for this training. Cost will be $300/person.

At the completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the association between access to lethal means and suicide and the contribution reducing access has for preventing suicide
  • Have the skills and confidence to work with clients and their families to reduce their access to lethal means
  • Demonstrate the ability to present this material to a general audience
  • Have the tools and the skills to present this material to an audience of clinicians
