Dear Joan,
As February draws
to a close the New Mexico Suicide Prevention Coalition wants
to inform you of some very important activities which could
benefit from your support. On February 26, the
Coalition will have a table at the Roundhouse in observance of NM
Behavioral Health Day at the Legislature. Please make an
effort to stop by, say hello, and pick up information about the
Coalition as well as some of our partners. Help us draw attention
to the seriousness of suicide in our state. Visit your
legislators and let them know of your concerns about the epidemic
of suicide we have in New
Mexico. Coalition members will be
there during the day helping survivors commemorate
those who have been lost to suicide. Additionally, we
want to bring attention to Senate Joint Memorial 18,
sponsored by Senator Carlos R. Cisneros requesting a
feasibilty study with regard to installing a bridge barrier on the Taos Gorge Bridge.

As you know we rescheduled our
February Coalition meeting. It has been rescheduled
for Wednesday, March 18th. We are excited about the
presentations that are scheduled. Our program will have a
focus on justice issues. Ann Edenfield-Sweet, Executive Director
of Wings for Life will be talking about the services her
organization offers to children and families of the
incarcerated. Wings for L.I.F.E. is an outreach of Wings
Ministry that empowers youth and families through education.
They teach life-skills and build relationships for the
future.
