New Mexico Suicide Prevention Coalition
JULY NEWSLETTER

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

Margaret Mead

The above quote is, indeed, what has happened as a result of the work of our Executive Director, Suzanne Udall.  She has traveled many miles throughout New Mexico the past few years to encourage people to drop the stigma attached to suicide and to work toward preventing this epidemic in our state.  Suzanne has traversed the state with the hue and cry "Together we can save lives by shining the light on suicide prevention."  Our coalition has grown appreciably as a result of her hard work, dedication and passion to our mission which states that we are devoted to suicide prevention, intervention and post-vention; and to providing education, support and advocacy to reduce the suicide rate in New Mexico.

It is with deep regret that the Board has learned of Suzanne's resignation and her family's impending move to Reno, Nevada.  It is our loss and Nevada's gain.  Rarely does a group have such a hard working person, who works so tirelessly and beyond the expectations of the Board.  Suzanne has helped communities throughout the state develop regional suicide prevention coalitions, provided trainings and community action meetings.  She has connected us with survivors who now have made contact with support groups in their areas.  She is a "connector" and her indefatigable efforts on behalf of the coalition have been invaluable.

Suzanne has, without a doubt, brought together committed citizens in New Mexico to change the course of suicide in our state.  She will be missed by us all.  Please help me extend thanks and best wishes to Suzanne Udall as she embarks on the latest part of her journey.
