The New Mexico Suicide Prevention Coalition, along with our wonderful partners and sponsors, are pleased to bring you these Regional Suicide Prevention trainings and Community Action/Coalition Building Meetings.  Below are the dates, flyers and schedules for our upcoming events.  The email sent out last week with the Santa Rosa information is being resent in this email because we had some wrong dates in the flyer and schedule.  Please accept our apologies for any confusion this may have caused.  Also, please forward this email to anyone you think might be interested in attending these events especially anyone with a state government email address, as we have found that these emails are not getting through to those people at this time.

8:00 - 9:00 am:  Registration/sign-in with continental breakfast

 

9:00 - 9:45 am:  Welcome, NM Suicide Prevention Coalition

NMSPC will lay some foundation regarding the need for Suicide Prevention in NM and especially in the adult population

 

10:00 -11:30 am:  Office of Aging, Department of Health

Adult Suicide Prevention awareness and intervention

 

11:30 am -12:45 pm:  Lunch break - on your own

 

1:00 - 2:00 pm:  NMSPC and Partners

More on the needs of the adult population; some best practices discussed; the needs of Veterans; Survivor issues.  Lots of resources and information available.

 

2:00 - 2:15 pm:  afternoon break-refreshments served

Welcome additional community members to join us for QPR and later Community Action Meeting.

 

2:15 - 3:45 pm:  QPR training with Dr. Ley of NM Solutions. 

Question-Persuade-Refer - This training teaches warning signs and ways to ask the question and then respond. This awareness training is meant for everyone. Everyone can be a gatekeeper and assist with solutions.

 

3:45 - 4:00 pm:  Closing remarks for CEU training

Same day, 4 - 6 pm:  Community Action Meeting:

 

We will have a panel of key players from the community and attendees are welcome to participate in the discussion of Suicide in the community. The Mayor and local Representatives, and Local Behavioral Health Collaborative and Health Council members have been invited. Listen and share your thoughts and concerns about suicide issues in your community help direct some change and awareness.

 

June 14, 10am:  Community Action/Coalition Building Meeting
We will provide a setting to gather together and help create some goals and actions for creating more suicide prevention and awareness in the area. Please come and help be part of creating positive solutions and supports for the area.  Attendees are encouraged to join the Dona Ana Behavioral Health Collaborative for the monthly meeting from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, which includes lunch.
